Hempsley's CBD-Enhanced Fruit Dip

Columbia, Missouri is home to Hempsley, founded by Kristen Williams, a Columbia native. Hempsley is a Wellness Guidance company that introduces customers to the basic science behind a variety of natural wellness techniques — everything from essential oils to herbs, nutrition, cannabinoid therapies, and more — so that you can begin taking better care of yourself and your loved ones.

Hempsley targets education about the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS is responsible for keeping all your bodily systems in balance with one another as you encounter stress throughout your daily life. The ECS is made up of receptors embedded in your body, including all your organs, tissues, and more. When these receptors are stimulated by cannabinoids, our bodies are able to communicate more effectively with themselves and return to internal balance.

On a fundamental level, cannabinoids help neurotransmitters cross from one cell to another at a balanced, healthy rate. Cannabinoids are a compound found naturally both within the body and in the cannabis plant. Just like with any other nutrient, our bodies can have a cannabinoid deficiency and need extra support. If this happens, we can supplement with cannabinoids derived from the cannabis plant.

You can think of cannabinoids as you would any other nutrient: if you’re deficient in potassium, your doctor may tell you to eat more bananas. If you’re deficient in cannabinoids, you can consume more cannabis. There are over 100 different cannabinoids found in cannabis, and while they all support your ECS, they don’t all produce the same effects. Unlike the cannabinoid THC that can produce a “high,” CBD is a completely non-intoxicating cannabinoid that supports this system and is available nationwide. CBD can be helpful for seizures, depression, chronic pain, sleep, and more. In fact, there is now a CBD pharmaceutical that has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of epilepsy.

CBD products can be obtained nationally for supporting the ECS through methods such as ingestion. Hempsley has been kind enough to share their recipe for a delicious and simple cannabinoid-enhanced Fruit Dip, providing one example of how CBD can be used to balance your ECS in your day to day life.

CBD-Enhanced Fruit Dip

Makes approximately 3 servings

1 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt

3 tbsp honey (Hempsley loves local Stem to Table honey!)

1/2 tsp vanilla

1/2 tsp cinnamon

5-15 mg CBD/serving (Hempsley recommends Rosebud’s 350mg MCT oil tincture, where 1 drop = .5mg CBD)*

½ cup fruit (Hempsley recommends peaches from Peach Tree Farm and blackberries from the Columbia Farmer’s Market)*

½ cup granola* (Hempsley loves granola from Lucky’s Market and Nourish Cafe and Market)

1.    Mix yogurt, honey, vanilla, and cinnamon together in bowl

2.    Divide into servings & add desired amount of CBD to each serving

3.    Mix with fruit and granola or your other favorite ingredients to make an infused parfait, or simply use as a yummy dip for your summer fruit tray!
